Loyola baseball teams up with Komen Race for the Cure
New Orleans, La.- The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team
assisted with the 13th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure that was
held last weekend in New Orleans.
Located in City Park, the Wolfpack assisted with the set up of the
event's post race festivities at the Roosevelt Mall. The event opened
with a survivor recognition program prior to a 5K run/walk and a one
mile fun run/walk to benefit breast cancer research. Loyola team
members erected the stage, booths, tables, and chairs at the post race
event site.
"Supporting the Komen Race for the Cure, brought our team together to
help in the community. We were able to lend our muscle and take care of
much of the hard work in setting up the post race event location. We
were grateful to be able to make a difference in our community," said
junior shortstop Taylor Domengeaux.
Loyola's participation fell under the university's commitment to the
NAIA's Champions of Character program which promotes servant leadership
by student athletes and coaches in the community.
"We're proud to be associated with such a worthwhile cause in the city
of New Orleans. It's important for our guys to participate and make a
contribution to those in need. We're very fortunate to be able to
assist in such a great event," said Loyola head coach Gee Cassard.
